I saved a number of figure a while ago. Now when I open them, some open as .fig files and some open in an Import Wizard GUI! I need to edit these figures. Could someone please tell me what is happening here and how I can restore the figure? I appreciate it.

It's going to be extremely difficult if not impossible to determine the
cause of that behavior without seeing an example. Please either put the
.fig-files that bring up the Import Wizard on some file hosting site and
post a link to them or send them to Technical Support and ask for
assistance. [Please do NOT email them to me directly.]

Thank you for your response. Would it be OK if I put the file on my home page and send you the URL in a private message?

Please post the URL here instead, so that others can try to help as well, or
send the files to Technical Support.

Hi,
I also encountered this problem and after spending many hours found the reason. It happens when you click "save as" even though the file has .fig extension the "save as type" is Paintbrush 24-bit file (*.pcx) by default which causes the problem . I don't know how to recover the corrupted files but in future changing the save as type to MATLAB figure (*.fig) helps.
