When I try to save an AVI movie file in a folder with a long path name in Windows, MOVIE2AVI becomes unstable. That is sometimes it results in a segmentation violation, other times I obtain an error saying "??? Failed to open file." and other times just goes into an infinite loop.

This has been verified as a bug in MATLAB 6.5.1 (R13SP1) in the way that MOVIE2AVI interacts with the Windows operating system.
Currently, to work around this issue, try using a local or short path with no spaces in the folder that constitute the path levels.
